Pedagogy
Part-time/extramural second-cycle studies last 2 years (4 semesters).
The studies are carried out in the field of:
- School pedagogy with educational therapy – addressed to people who have completed first and second-cycle studies or a 5-year master’s degree in psychology or a first-cycle degree in pedagogy, who want to obtain the qualifications of a school counselor.
- Care and educational pedagogy – aimed at people who have completed a first degree in education
Graduates of these courses receive pedagogical training, which means acquiring knowledge and skills in the fields of psychology, pedagogy and specific didactics related to pedagogical practice. They do not qualify as teachers.
Pedagogy with educational therapy
The school counselor is a specialist who recognises the early signs of mental health problems in children and young people and helps to build mental resilience and, if necessary, also helps teachers and parents to understand them. Their responsibilities include psychological and pedagogical assistance to pupils, as well as constant contact with the parents of children with problems.
The school counselor also provides psychological and pedagogical support in the event of depression, crisis, difficult life experiences and challenges in everyday life, personality disorders, problems with self-esteem, anxiety and panic attacks, and trauma; solving parenting issues with children and teenagers (learning difficulties, aggressive behaviour, setting and maintaining boundaries, improving adult-child and adult-teenager communication, etc.); working with the class team and resolving conflicts, building interpersonal relationships; dealing with chronic stress and difficult emotions; working with addictions and co-addiction, including behavioural addictions such as computer and phone addiction, educational and upbringing support for children with special educational needs, their parents and teachers; didactic and methodological support for subject teachers.
The graduate has psychological and pedagogical training.
Knowledge
The student gains in-depth knowledge in the field of social sciences in the discipline of pedagogy. He/she gains professional pedagogical, psychological, substantive and methodological preparation. The studies enable the creation of knowledge in the field of regularities and dysfunctions of the psychophysical development of children and schoolchildren in primary and secondary schools. The student learns the methods of work of a school councelor, methods of diagnosing development and disorders in the psychosocial functioning of children and adolescents, and methods of early development support, as well as therapeutic work in the school and out-of-school environment.
Skills
Students acquire practical skills related to psychological and pedagogical assistance (psychoprophylaxis, sociotherapy, crisis intervention), solving complex, atypical pedagogical problems and educational problems with children and young people through the adequate selection of methods and means, as well as supporting young people in various life situations.
Work
Graduates are qualified to work as SCHOOL COUNSELORS
School counselor can work in all possible educational institutions – in public kindergartens, primary and secondary schools, as well as in places where children and adolescents in need of help may be found, e.g. in: psychological and pedagogical counselling centre, day care centre, educational institution, teacher training centre or educational centre for young people with difficulties.
Care and Educational Pedagogy
Care and educational teacher is a specialist who works in the field of education, development, care and support for people in difficult developmental or social situations. They have professional pedagogical training to work as educators in educational and care facilities, both in and out of school, as well as in support, intervention, socialisation and multifunctional facilities. Educators have a wide range of activities in the field of prevention and therapy for children, young people and adults in need of various types of support. They identify problems in the field of care and education, organise and offer support, emergency or therapeutic assistance. They also deal with social prevention to avert crisis situations – they can conduct educational activities for pupils, parents and teachers. They are prepared to work with children and young people with specific learning difficulties and to help them overcome school difficulties. They support the psychosocial development of children and young people in an environment that is not conducive to proper upbringing and care for basic needs, as well as adults, the elderly and dependent persons.
Knowledge
The students gain in-depth knowledge in the field of social sciences in the discipline of pedagogy, in the area of pedagogy, developmental and social psychology, sociology, aquire concepts, theoretic statements and models in relation to the reality of care and education, its components, legal basis and methodology of care and educational work. They are able to recognise contemporary social threats and their consequences.
They have knowledge about the design and implementation of various care, educational and support activities for human development and functioning at different stages of life and in different social roles. They acquire knowledge and practical skills in the field of mediation and support for families (especially dysfunctional ones); they are prepared to provide professional assistance to families in the area of their care and educational functions.
Skills
The student gains practical skills that allow them to actively participate in activities related to education, upbringing, working with children, care, prevention, assistance and support, career counselling and working with the elderly. They have in-depth skills in recognising and identifying care and educational problems and in observing, diagnosing and rationally assessing complex educational situations as well as the ability to support individuals and families in solving educational problems.
They have the skills to provide help and support in solving individual and group problems. The graduates can design and implement activities that complement and compensate for the process of care, upbringing and socialisation with a group of children, young people, adults, including the elderly, in care, educational, social and cultural institutions.
Work
A graduate is qualified to work as a TEACHER.
They can work in: educational institutions, e.g. as a teacher in a school club, boarding school, hostel; educational and care institutions such as socialisation, intervention, family and multifunctional institutions, e.g. educator in an orphanage, a home for young children, a childcare centre, a family emergency centre; extracurricular education facilities, education and cultural centres for children and young people, e.g. educator in a community centre, sociotherapeutic centre, educational centre; institutions and facilities of the social welfare system, e.g. adoption and foster care centres, family support centres, nursing homes, specialist counselling centres, support and crisis intervention centres; non-profit organisations and occupational therapy workshops.

Tuition fees can be paid in one of two ways:
1. Monthly payments
Tuition fees for the year: 4,600 PLN (payable in 10 instalments of 460 PLN per month) payment dates: by the 10th of each month, starting in October (for the first year, the first instalment is due when documents are submitted)
2. Annual payments
Full-time and part-time students who pay for the entire academic year by 10 October receive a discount on their tuition fees. In this case, the annual tuition fee is 4,400 PLN.
