Erasmus+
Information
About the Erasmus+ programme
The Erasmus programme was established in 1987 to promote and facilitate student exchanges between universities in European Community countries. In 1995, Erasmus became part of the then newly created EU programme Socrates (now finished) and since 2006/2007 it has been part of the comprehensive EU programme in the field of education – ‘Lifelong Learning’.
Who is the programme addressed to?
The Erasmus+ Higher Education programme is primarily aimed at higher education institutions, their students and staff. It supports international cooperation between higher education institutions, promotes staff mobility, enables students to study and train abroad, and creates numerous opportunities for higher education institutions to participate in projects with foreign partners. Some activities are also open to non-academic institutions, such as companies, organisations or research institutions that cooperate with universities.
‘Erasmus Charter for Higher Education 2021-2027’
At the request of the Podlasie Academy of Applied Sciences in Białystok was granted the ‘Erasmus Charter for Higher Education 2021-2027’ (ECHE), which entitles us to receive funding for all activities under the Erasmus+ programme. It is also a commitment by the Academy to comply with all the principles contained therein, as well as to implement the provisions of the ‘Erasmus Policy Declaration 2021-2027’.
Under the Erasmus+: Higher Education programme, the following mobilities can be organised:
The structure of the Erasmus+ programme has been simplified compared to previous programmes and includes three main types of activities:
- Students to complete part of their studies at a foreign university or to do an internship in a foreign company (SMS);
- Teaching and research staff to teach at foreign universities (STA);
- Staff mobility for teaching (STT).
ERASMUS+ in education and training
The structure of the Erasmus+ programme has been simplified compared to previous programmes and includes four main types of activities:
- An integrated programme with more opportunities
- A focus on skills for future employment
- New opportunities to improve teaching and learning processes
- New partnerships between the worlds of education and work

Formal and informal education
The new programme places the greatest emphasis on formal and informal education aimed at developing the skills of students, teachers and employees and improving their situation in the labour market.

Cross-sector collaboration
The programme emphasises the importance of cross-sector collaboration (different education sectors, institutions at different levels and with different profiles) and strengthening the synergy effect between the education sectors and the working environment.

International mobility
In practice, the Erasmus+ programme enables international mobility – educational trips (e.g. to study or work, undertake training or engage in voluntary work) pupils, students, educational staff and youth workers, and supports the creation of partnerships between universities, colleges and secondary schools, companies and non-profit organisations to strengthen innovation and knowledge building.

Supporting sports events
The main aim of the sports activities is to support initiatives that combat violence, discrimination and doping. International non-profit sporting events are also eligible for funding.
