GENERAL INFORMATION

Library

The library is a university-wide organisational unit of a scientific nature. It was established in 2004 and is located in the main building at 91 Jana Pawła II Avenue and has 147 m2 of space. The task of the library is to collect, process and provide access to the collections and to conduct information activities. The Library makes its collections available to the students and academic staff of the Academy, and allows other interested parties to use them in accordance with the Library Regulations.

In the Library it is possible to purchase books published by the Publishing House of the Podlasie Academy of Applied Sciences in Bialystok. These include publications by academics associated with the Academy.

Reading room

The reading room has separate computer workstations with access to the Internet and the computer catalogue of library collections ‘Libra 2000’. The second part of the reading room, with free access to journals, has been adapted for quiet work by students and researchers.

BOOK COLLECTION

The library is constantly enriching its book collection with publishing items in the fields that are the subject of scientific research at the university. These are mainly publications in the field of pedagogy and psychology, i.e. :

In addition, it has an extensive selection of publications in areas such as:

The library subscribes to 10 titles of national journals. These are:

The total number of volumes as at 31 December 2023 is 13,781.

LABORATORY OF DIAGNOSTIC TECHNIQUES

The Diagnostic Techniques Laboratory collection contains diagnostic tools, which include test sheets, keys and manuals. The collection can be used by students majoring in psychology and teaching staff of The Academy with at least a master’s degree in psychology. The materials in the Laboratory can only be used on site; they cannot be photocopied, photographed or copied in any other way. Detailed information is available in the Regulations section.

IBUK LIBRA

The library of The Podlasie Academy of Applied Sciences in Bialystok provides access to IBUK LIBRA – a virtual reading room of the Polish Scientific Publishers (PWN). There are approximately 260 titles from various fields of science available 24/7. The list of titles will be successively extended.
Access to the publications is possible: from the university network at libra.ibuk.pl, and from outside the university network at libra.ibuk.pl – after obtaining a PIN code. The PIN code can be obtained directly from the AcademyLibrary or by sending an e-mail to biblioteka@apwb.pl with your name and album number. The code expires on 01.11.2025.

LEXOTEKA

The library of the Podlasie Academy of Applied Sciences in Bialystok makes it possible to use the Lexoteka – a database of legislation and case-law, which also contains electronic versions of textbooks for students of law and administration. Access to the Lexoteka is available at www.ip.lex.pl after obtaining an access code from the Library.

LIBRARY ACCOUNT

In order to create a library account, you will need your student card or other identification document. Readers are required to enter their details: first name, surname, album number, course of study, address of residence. He/she can voluntarily provide his/her e-mail address and telephone number. A student card or other valid identity document authorises the use of the  Library.

RETURN PERIODS AND BORROWING LIMITS

Books and journals are borrowed for 2 weeks. The borrowing limit is 5 copies. The borrowing period can be extended in person, by telephone or e-mail only if there is no demand for the item. There is a charge of 50 grosz per day for not returning a book on time.

Ordering books online from home
To order books online you will need a user login and password. Please visit the library to pick up your password for your online library account.

Ordered books (maximum of 5 copies) can be collected for two days after placing the order.
It is not possible to renew books online or reserve a book borrowed by another student.
