runs a project
“PAAS – an accessible university”
As part of the Measure 3.5 Comprehensive educational programs,

as part of agreement nr POWR.03.03.05.00-00-A064/21-00 z dnia 08/12/2021 r.
The following measures were implemented as part of the project:
- The University Accessibility Committee, consisting of the Rector’s Representative for Students with Disabilities, the Assistant to the Rector’s Representative, the Accessibility Advisor and the Digital and Technical Accessibility Specialist, developed the following documents:
- Recommendations of the Accessibility Committee in six areas of support. Plan of actions and recommendations (PDF, 885 KB).
- Recommendations to improve the evacuation of people with disabilities and to improve safety at the University (PDF, 842 KB).
- Recommendations of the Accessibility Committee regarding the adaptation of the recruitment process to the needs of people with disabilities (PDF, 800 KB).
- Recommendations of the Accessibility Committee regarding the accessibility of the education process (PDF, 885 KB)
- Digital accessibility standards (PDF, 2 MB)
- Procedure for the evacuation of persons with disabilities (PDF, 2 MB).
- Regulation of the Rector of the Non-State Higher School of Pedagogy in Białystok on the determination of detailed rules for the introduction and application of alternative solutions for students with special needs (PDF, 281 KB) with appendices (PDF, 934 KB).
- Catalogue of services already implemented and planned for further implementation while maintaining the seven principles of educational support (PDF, 880 KB)
- A series of training sessions for teaching and administrative staff was carried out on the following topics:
- Support for people with disabilities in education
- Running academic classes with the participation of people in a mental crisis.
- Coping with difficult situations when working with students with disabilities and mental health problems
- The functioning of people on the autism spectrum in an academic environment
- Digital accessibility at university
- Creating accessible content and documents
- Conducting academic classes with the participation of people with autism spectrum disorder
- The presence of people with disabilities in the academic community as part of the university’s equality policy
- Providing remote classes and adapting teaching methods to people with disabilities
- Supporting a student with a disability
A total of 80 people took part in the training courses, including 66 academics and 14 administrative staff.
- Others actions included:
- The building has been labelled (rooms and corridors)
- The IT room and library have been further equipped with a total of 6 computers adjusted to the needs of people with disabilities, including 2 with specialised software
- E-learning courses on the handling and support of people with disabilities have been developed for students
- The website and the university’s distance learning platform have been adapted to the latest WCAD standards.
- A passenger lift has been purchased and installed.
